The safety and energy production of hydroelectric plants result from a multitude of factors, from the quality and reliability of maintenance tasks to the capability to predict plant failures. Today, maintenance relies upon human operators performing complex operations in harsh and confined spaces, getting worse by high physical fatigue and mental stress. Thalea wants to deliver an underwater platform to execute maintenance operations in hydroelectric pipelines without emptying the pipeline. The platform enables novel human-centred maintenance strategies for: reducing workplace injuries by a high Job Quality Index, providing the highest inspection quality by digitally reconstructing the plant conditions, and increasing the preventive and predictive analysis through AI-based maintenance tools.
